Appear Networks’ Click and Run™ solution presented at the Bluetooth Congress
Appear Networks and Possio join forces to demonstrate a combined WLAN/Bluetooth solution to deliver wireless applications within public hotspots
Amsterdam, Netherlands - June 13, 2002 - Appear Networks, European leader in the development of application provisioning software for wireless hotspots and Possio, a provider of products for wireless digital networks, jointly presented the Appear Networks’ newly available Click & Run™ solution at the Bluetooth Congress.
Click & Run™ is a revolution in the delivery of new applications to mobile devices (smart phones, PDAs, laptops) in public hotspots. The joint demonstration combined the latest release of Appear Provisioning Server a Bluetooth-enabled PDA and Possio’s PX20 802.11/Bluetooth gateway, providing a complete and powerful solution targeted towards hotspot owners

The unique Click & Run™ technology enables public hotspots, such as hotels, train stations, airports, to make applications accessible to employees and visitors in one simple click. A user enters a hotspot, an icon appears on his mobile device to indicate that an application is available. Upon leaving the hotspot, the icon disappears.
“The Bluetooth Congress, an annual event for the international Bluetooth industry, provided us with an excellent opportunity to conduct a live on-stage demonstration of our solution” explains Xavier Aubry, Business Development Manager for Appear Networks. “The market is now looking for solutions that work on many different types on networks and devices. Customers buy solutions, not technologies. Our aim was to illustrate how the Click & Run™ technology can be deployed seamlessly on 802.11 and Bluetooth networks. We described the scenario of a recent deployment for a public transportation operator and the resulting benefits for the workforce.”
