Appear Networks announces the creation of a wireless solution center with the support of the Chilean Government
The Context-Aware Solution Center will focus on next generation mobile IT solutions for the South American market
Santiago, Chile and Stockholm, May 30, 2005 – The Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) and Swedish high-tech software provider Appear Networks (Appear) just announced the official launch of a Context-Aware Solution Center focusing on the next generation of mobile enterprise IT solutions for the South American market.
Chilean president Mr. Ricardo Lagos and the Head of CORFO Mr. Oscar Landerretche will hold the opening ceremony at the newly built CORFO High-Tech Building, in Valparaiso. The Center is built in collaboration with local system integrator Grupo DISC.
The Center will focus on wireless broadband solutions based on Appear IQ, a software platform designed to meet the needs of mobile frontline workers and facilitate their successful use of technology. The platform adds an additional layer of computing intelligence to standard wireless data networks, transforming them into channels for delivering relevant data, mission critical video and facilitating communication via voice over IP.
The key component is the Appear Context Engine, capable to recognize and anticipate the needs of mobile workers based on their job responsibilities, physical location, time-of-day, device type, bandwidth available and more. The Appear IQ platform proactively pushes personalized, real-time information to the user’s handheld device whenever they enter or move between authorized wireless zones. Data is displayed in a user-friendly format using simple, straightforward icons that encourage user adoption of the technology. The provisioning of new applications and the synchronization of data is conducted automatically whenever necessary, without impact on the user. The end result is a successfully deployed mobile workforce: more productive frontline employees, a drop in the cost of operating their handheld devices and enhanced customer satisfaction.
“We identified Appear Networks as one of the most promising IT companies in Europe, with their successful deployments in the Transportation and Public Sectors in Paris, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Essen, among others” commented Claudio Maggi, Head of Investment Promotion of CORFO. “We strongly believe that there is great potential to deploy the Appear IQ platform with the Chilean industry”.
“Chile is one of the leading countries in the field of wireless broadband” said Alex Cabrera, co-founder of Appear Networks. “Their world-class telecom infrastructure, combined with a high internet penetration creates an ideal environment for deploying innovative mobile enterprise solutions, and a perfect platform towards the South American market”.
