Swedish innovation agency VINNOVA and SiSP have selected Appear for the Sweden-Brazil Business Bridge. The project aims to encourage companies to create concrete synergies with companies in Brazil based on the purpose of developing new or existing products and create export opportunities.

Stockholm – 30 May 2012 – The Sweden-Brazil Business Bridge is aimed at small and medium sized Swedish companies, with specific project ideas in Brazil. Appear is now pursuing several opportunities in the region of Rio de Janeiro and was a natural candidate for this program. Appear is one of four companies selected for their innovation and potential, that will receive specific support from VINNOVA and SiSP in 2012.

Xavier Aubry, CEO Appear, explains: “We believe that the BRIC markets have a strong need for advanced mobile technologies, and in particular Brazil, with the massive infrastructure development in progress to support the Football World Cup and the Olympic Games. We are already piloting a mobile application deployment in the public transport industry and, with the support of VINNOVA and SiSP, we aim to build a new implementation in the public sector towards the end of the year”.

Ciro Vasquez, program manager VINNOVA, adds: “Historically, Swedish and Brazilian companies have had long and fruitful exchanges of knowledge and business. With its 192 million inhabitants Brazil represents a huge market that is undergoing an intense phase of growth. There is considerable interest from Brazilian companies to find innovative collaborations with Swedish companies such as Appear”.

As selected company, Appear will participate to a technology roadshow in Brazil in the second half of 2012, and demonstrate its portfolio of mobile applications for transportation and field service to a number of Brazilian government and private organizations.
